What is a Christian?
Christians gained their name by being called "little Christs" after Jesus Christ. One is not a Christian simply by being raised in a Christian home, attending a Christian church or acting "Christian." One becomes a Christian when he or she repents of sin and calls upon the Lord for salvation.
Becoming a Christian is the most important decision you will ever make in your life. The Bible plainly says that "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Sincerely pray something like this: "Lord Jesus, I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and that You rose again from the grave. Please forgive me of my sins and save my soul. Come into my life and make me a new person."
If you honestly pray a prayer such as this to the Lord Jesus Christ, you become a Christian and have been forgiven of your sins. You now have the promise of heaven and eternal life with Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that when you become a Christian you should share your decision with others. You should acknowledge your decision by telling others, participating in believer’s baptism, and joining a church. We encourage you talk about your decision with a minister by contacting our church offices. |
