Licensed Professional Counselor

Counseling is available for individuals, couples, and families with Dr. Joe Cook, a Licensed Professional Counselor with the Meier Clinic in Richardson, Texas. Dr. Cook is available each Friday for appointments here at the church. He has 23 years of ministry experience and over 10 years of counseling in both the church and clinical settings.

Dr. Cook has experience working with individuals, couples, and families. He has a passion for counseling, especially in working with couples to salvage and strengthen their relationships. He works with individuals in dealing with issues of stress, anxiety, depression, anger management, family of origin issues and setting proper boundaries for healthy living. He is a Prepare/Enrich certified counselor who provides premarital as well as marital counseling. He helps families in dealing with parenting issues and family conflict. He works particularly with parents of children and adolescents with ADHD to help them develop coping strategies.

Dr. Cook utilizes a cognitive approach to therapy. He believes that change is possible through the process of challenging and replacing negative thinking and beliefs about self and others with the truth of God’s Word. He believes that emotional healing involves the whole person, including careful consideration of physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual issues.
