Making Gifts to the Endowment Fund
Gifts made to the Endowment Fund must be specifically designated in writing by the donor for the Endowment Fund. Because the Endowment Fund is a ministry of First Baptist Carrollton, gifts designated for the Endowment Fund are tax deductible as a charitable donation to the Church. Donors can contribute in a variety of ways. Choosing the right plan depends on the assets, needs, intentions, and age of each donor. Some of the options for giving that are available include:
- Outright gifts by cash, appreciated property, tangible personal property or life insurance.
- Life-income gifts that allow a portion of the income from the investment to be paid back to the donor and their beneficiaries regularly for a term of years or for the rest of their lives.
- Gifts put into trust for a period of years with a specified amount of income to be paid to the Endowment Fund each year.
- Gifts made through a will specifically naming the Endowment Fund as a recipient of a portion of an estate.
Each of these options may have different tax benefits or costs associated with them. Please seek advice from a legal and financial adviser to determine which option is best.
