Curriculum

Our facility offers a complete age-appropriate curriculum for children 12 months through kindergarten. Our teachers use Weekday Early Education curriculum (WEE Learn). The purpose of this curriculum is to provide a framework on which teachers can build an early childhood program that allows children to grow and develop as Jesus did - "in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and Man" (Luke 2:52). A child's growth and development is viewed as a process, not an event. Development begins when the child is conceived and continues throughout life; therefore, this curriculum provides a range of activities designed to meet the needs of children at their level of development. It also provides guidance and activities in each unit to help each child develop language, reading, writing, and math skills appropriate to his or her stage of development.

Spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, and social developments are equally important. The teacher's responsibility is to select activities which provide a balanced program of early childhood education.

This curriculum is developed around themes that provide opportunities for children to learn about God's world and how to live in it. Activities which embrace physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual development are included under each theme topic. The themes are designed to help lay a foundation for understanding God, Jesus, the Bible, church, self, family, others, and the natural world. Teachers are encouraged to use the activities in this curriculum to plan individual and small group activities that will meet the specific needs and interests of each child.

Each of the age-level teachers plan their lessons together. Our morning is divided into center time, large and small group times, snacks and playtime. The toddler curriculum is set up in such a way as to provide time for play, sharing, manipulative toys, art activities and development of large and small motor skills. The children are supervised at play either outdoors or in designated indoor play areas. We have a music time with a teacher who coordinates her lesson plans with the different age-group topics.

Center time is free choice. The teachers plan for art, blocks, home living, crafts, nature, books, and manipulatives. Bible thoughts and Bible stories are used in everyday classroom activities. The school has computers and the children are introduced to these.

The teacher to student ratio is 1 to 6. Our teachers are well-trained and experienced and they are able to provide quality individual and group time care of these children.
